Villa Cicchi, simply beautiful

""A charming farm stay in the Marche,
where life, and holidays, are still a gloriously leisurely affair..." "

A dinner of organic treats grown in the vegetable garden just outside, a glass of Vino Cotto wine, a night to remember sleeping beneath a frescoed ceiling, hours of blissful relaxation by the pool, a stroll through the Italian countryside...

Simple pleasures, which, today, have become a much longed for luxury. The kind of luxury which awaits guests at Villa Cicchi, a charming farm stay in Italy's Marche region, just outside Ascoli Piceno.

A beautiful rural retreat immersed in the enchanting Italian countryside, Villa Chicci is one of the many historic summer residences once built in the area by members of the local bourgeoisie, who were keen to escape the heat of the city and enjoy a vacation spent walking, reading and relaxing in the country.

Exactly the kind of holiday today's guests can enjoy at Villa Cicchi: relaxation, unspoiled nature and the traditional cuisine of Marche.

In the glorious green countryside of Italy's Marche region, Villa Cicchi lies just 4 kilometers away from the art city of Ascoli Piceno and within easy reach of the wild and wonderful Sibillini Mountains. The thermal baths of Acquasanta are only ten kilometers from the Villa. The beaches of San Benedetto del Tronto are a thirty kilometer drive away. You can reach the farm stay by car (we have a free car park) or bus (there is a bus stop directly opposite the entrance to the villa).

The history of Villa Cicchi and the cellar

Villa Cicchi was built in the late 17th century as a summer residence for the local gentry. The tiles on the roof are dated 1685, the emblem placed over the main door bears the date 1745, and, carved on a lintel in the chapel, the date 1734 can be seen. The Villa's first owner was Don Angelo Angelini. In the 19th century the property passed into the hands of the Marchese Guidi who commissioned Raffaele Fogliardi to paint the ornate frescoes which adorn the villa's high vaulted ceilings. In 1917 the villa was purchased by the Cicchi family. In 1995 the villa was transformed into a luxury farm stay complete with organic restaurant.

The rooms which best recount the history of this unique place are the cellars. Dug out of the travertine foundations, the cellars run all the way beneath the villa.

A miniature museum testifying to more than two centuries of life in rural Piceno, the cellars contain bottles of Vino Cotto wine dating back to 1845 and a fascinating collection of traditional agricultural tools
